This photograph shows Bardot at the Paris salon of the man who discovered her, Jean Barthet, the celebrated fashion designer and milliner. When Bardot was in her early teens, she was a 'dancing model' at her mother's shop. Struck by her original beauty, at 14, Bardot was encouraged by Barthet to model for Elle magazine. Film director Roger Vadim, noticed Bardot on the cover of Elle and approached her to become an actress and later on, his wife.
