Biography

Ron Gallela, now 79, is famed in America as the founding father of Paparazzi photographers was one of the first paparazzi in Hollywood. Infamous for losing five teeth as a result of his first encounter with Marlon Barndon he also gained notoriety when taken to court and issued with a restrainng order by Jackie Onassis. His A-list subjects range from Liz Taylor, Brigitte Bardot, Elvis Presley, Robert Redford, Jackie O, Mick Jagger, David Bowie and Michael Jackson.
Marlon Brando hit him in the mouth, Brigitte Bardot's friends hosed him down in St. Tropez and Onassis won a restraining order against him. On a bike trip in Central Park, Galella remembers that Jackie screamed to her bodyguard: "Smash his camera!" and this phrase was used as the title of a recent documentary about Galella's life, which was directed by Leon Gast in 2009-2010.
